IFS provides equity capital for tax-advantaged investments, including multi-family affordable housing, historic rehabilitation and renewable energy developments.  The company is a wholly-owned investment subsidiary of IDACORP, Inc. (NYSE: IDA), a publicly traded holding company formed in 1998 to hold regulated utility company Idaho Power.

IFS began in 1986 by funneling equity capital into a regional venture capital fund and enjoying modest success that prompted the company to expand its focus and mission toward tax-advantaged real estate.

In 1995, IFS placed its first affordable housing capital into a mixed-income apartment community in Boise consisting of 200 units, a project that served as a catalyst to re-invigorate an entire neighborhood.  Since 1995, the company’s investment portfolio has grown to nearly $200 million and is geographically diversified, consisting of over 700 hundred apartment communities and historic properties across the lower 49 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
